        " The Tythe Pig "

Staffordshire group of "The Tythe Pig".

Very good detail and fine colours.

Some good restoration and lacking

bocage.

The farmer Hob holding the pig and his wife holding the baby are meeting the

Vicar who they pay rent to for the

church land. The common practise was

to levy a "tythe" as part of the rent.

Hob's wife offers the baby as part of

their produce and states "If you do not

take the child there will no be handing

over the pig" Hence the startled look

on the clergyman's face.
